Terry Donovan set to lead new era of La Crescent football

Offensive coach at Kasson-Mantorville since 2008

A new era of football is about to begin at La Crescent-Hokah, as Terry Donovan has taken over as head coach.

Donovan has been the offensive coordinator for Class 4-A Kasson-Mantorville since 2008. The Komets were finalists in 4A last season.

Donovan sees new AD Eriah Hayes as someone he’s thrilled to work with, and with La Crescent’s rebuilding status, he sees a great opportunity to build something from next to nothing.

“We’re a run-first team,” Donovan said. “We have a lot of – we are based in a football option. It teaches a lot of great fundamentals. It teaches tenacity, it teaches unity. It is altruism.
I think the biggest challenge right now is probably belief – belief that we can do anything.

“One of the things I want to commend both the school district and the previous staff is that we didn’t play college football in 2019 or 2020, and there was COVID, and they still came back to play the game. ‘last year. Our foundation is going to be built on the foundation they just made there.

“On the first day, we will work on two things: conviction and effort. These two things can carry a team very far.
