Liverpool vs Aston Villa live stream: how to watch, team news, predictions, odds, head to head UK

Emotions will run high as Liverpool prepare to face a fit Aston Villa side with a familiar face in the opposing canoe.

Newly Appointed Director of Villains Steven gerrard will return to his second home for the first time since the Reds legend left as a player in 2016, switching to the MLS LA Galaxy side before retiring a few years later.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will look to put an end to their good run with his side also flying in domestic and European competitions – winning their last five matches and conceding just two goals with a second-chain side lined up during their season. 2-1 win vs AC Milan at the San Siro.

Since Gerrard took over at Villa, his side have won three of their last four games and had a solid 2-1 victory over Leicester City last time around.

It will be interesting to see if Anfield’s adopted son can spoil the party as the villains seek to cause upheaval.

Liverpool will face Aston Villa in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday 11 December 2021, kicking off at 3 p.m. GMT.

Team news

Jürgen Klopp

Klopp admitted at his press conference that Diogo Jota hadn’t been training all week after receiving a blow against Wolves, but believes he should be fine. Nathaniel Phillips broke his cheekbone against AC Milan and will be out for a month.

Roberto Firmino is back in training after recovering from a hamstring injury, but it remains to be seen whether Saturday will come too early for the Brazilian to start.

Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones are still on the sidelines.

Steven gerrard

Villa will be without Leon Bailey and Bertrand Traore, both struggling with thigh injuries at the moment.

Other than that, the Birmingham-based squad have a solid squad to choose from and should play on the front foot.

Scheduled Liverpool X (4-3-3) I: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Salah, Jota, Mane.

Aston Villa XI scheduled (4-2-3-1): Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Targett, McGinn, Nakamba, Luiz, Ramsay, Buendia, Watkins

Aston Villa will not fold and will have a lot of confidence in the future. However, the task of breaking down a Liverpool side that have conceded only 12 goals will not be easy, but certainly manageable.

The prospect of their backline having to sideline Salah, Jota and Mane for 90 minutes on the outside floor may be a step too far – but can certainly be inspired by how Wolves have defended.

Ultimately, Liverpool will knock on the door and it will eventually open up for them.
