Khamauri Rogers could become CB closed
The signature of the four-star cornerback Khamauri rogers provides the Miami football program with a potential pass defender. Rogers is the 103rd ranked player, 14th ranked CB, the third ranked player in Mississippi and the highest rated for Miami in the class of 2022. Miami adds depth for Rogers’ signing next season.
All Miami CBs on the 2021 list are still eligible. Third-year sophomore Tyrique Stevenson is still deciding whether to make the 2022 NFL Draft or return to Miami for his fourth season of college football. Only Stevenson is rated higher than Rogers among the running Miami CB.
Cornerback is the strongest and deepest position of the Miami 2022 signing small class. Miami also signed four-star CB Chris Graves and three-star Jaden Harris. Al Blades Jr. who missed most of the 2021 season due to illness and injury and Stevenson are Miami’s only current CBs ranked higher than Graves. Miami needed to add CBs.
Miami CB Hall may be in transition during the 2022 offseason. While everyone still has eligibility, some may choose to transfer. Blades are part of Miami’s first football family, but could choose to transfer to get a fresh start after two difficult seasons. Former starter Te’Cory Couch is another Miami CB to watch.
At 6’0, 165 pounds, Rogers will need to complete to become a starting CB for Miami. Andrew Ivins of 247 sports projects Rogers as a starter for several years after undergoing a physical transformation. Ivins likes Rogers’ ability to change direction and play at capture point. Rogers must develop to be an NFL CB.
Miami signed Rogers primarily on the Mississippi. The Hurricanes are building up the quality in defense in their 2022 class. Linebacker Wesley Bissainthe is the second best signing of 2022 and Graves is third. It wouldn’t be surprising if Miami added more depth and CB experience through the transfer portal.
