Football ready for home clash against UCF

The Owls return home for the first time in the past 28 days when they face the UCF Golden Knights on October 30. Kick-off is set for 12:00 and will air on ESPN + and 97.5 The Fanatic.

Last week
Last week, Temple lost their second conference game of the season by a score of 34-14 to USF. The Owls fell 14-0 midway through the second quarter but were able to reduce the deficit to three midway through the third quarter thanks to a pair of touchdowns from WR Randle Jones and RB Edward saydee. From there, however, the Bulls dominated the field, scoring 17 unanswered points to close the game.

Last time against UCF
The last time Temple played against the Knights was on November 14, 2020, losing his fifth game of the season, 38-13. Two costly turnovers on Temple’s first two possessions led to two quick UCF touchdowns and the Knights never looked back after that, holding onto the lead throughout the game. The Owls, playing for the third week in a row with a list exhausted by injuries and COVID-19 protocol issues, stayed close after the 14-0 deficit and were down 21-3 at halftime. However, UCF exploded for 17 points in the third quarter to open the contest.

Last time against UCF @ Lincoln Financial Field
The last time Temple and UCF faced off at the Linc was on October 26, 2019. The Knights emerged victorious, with a final score of 63-21. The Owls conceded their first practice with a 32-yard touchdown reception by WR Randle Jones by QB Antoine Russo. However, UCF were also able to score on their first possession and would retain the lead for the remainder of the game shortly thereafter. For Temple, all of his 21 points were scored in the first half, highlighted by a Russo at Branden mack 75-yard touchdown pass. Mack finished the contest with five receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown. Defensive end Layton Jordan managed to force the only turnover for the Owls, through a fumble. The owl defense was led by security Amir Tyler (eight tackles) and linebackers Shaun Bradley (six tackles) and Sam Franklin (six tackles).

Next, the Owls take a quick flight to Greenville, NC for a clash against the East Carolina Pirates. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m. and will air on ESPN +.
