Emirates News Agency – AJP Tour Abu Dhabi International Pro set to lift curtain on new Jiu Jitsu season

ABU DHABI, 9th February, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Arena will lift the curtain on a new sports season next Saturday with the launch of the AJP Tour Abu Dhabi International Pro.

The tournament, which is organized by the United Arab Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) in cooperation with the AJP, will host hundreds of players from various clubs and academies across the UAE and the region, including a range of nationalities, skill levels and age groups. : from teenagers to adults, from professionals to masters.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAEJJF, congratulated the Jiu-Jitsu community on the launch of the new season and highlighted the high levels of registration for the championship, as this reflects the growing international confidence in the Federation and AJP tournaments.

“Starting the new season with such a prestigious and inclusive league will help our players – especially those who are members of the national team – to adapt quickly and improve the quality of their performances by competing against the best players and talents at the level international,” Al-Dhaheri said.

The tournament will take place on February 12 and 13, starting on Saturday with competitions for teenagers, youngsters and masters, while adults and professionals will face off the following day.

Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Jiu Jitsu Pro (AJP), added: “The championship represents a milestone for players, as it provides winners with 600 ranking points, ensuring a good start for those aiming for the podium at the end of the season.”

Mohammed Al Awlaki of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club expressed his happiness to compete on the mat again. “I look forward to the current season and aim to help my club gain the appreciation and recognition it deserves. I can’t wait to start this weekend.”
